A large warehousing and distribution company faced consistently high numbers of strain injuries associated with product receiving, storage and distribution activities. [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_padding_top=”pt-1″ full_width=”stretch_row” css=”.vc_custom_1638896256859{background-color: #eaeaec !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]To identify the source(s) of the strain injuries, the Brown & Brown Risk Control team interviewed associates and observed receiving, palletizing, pick line, truck loading and customer delivery activities. During this monitoring, the team captured examples of safe and unsafe lifting and handling practices and techniques.<\/p>\n

These examples were then incorporated into training materials designed to address each department\u2019s particular exposures and challenges. The department-specific materials are now used to train associates annually through interactive sessions involving live demonstrations within actual and simulated work environments.<\/p>\n

After completing the training, associates participate in a self-observation process to rate their performance on the use of the techniques and practices covered in training. Associates responded favorably to this self-feedback approach, indicating that the observations are a \u201cgood reminder\u201d and help to \u201creinforce safe practices.\u201d[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_padding_bottom=”pb-2″ equal_height=”yes” content_placement=”bottom”][vc_column width=”1\/4″][vc_single_image image=”792″ img_size=”full”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”3\/4″]\n

Experienced a 34 percent reduction in strain injuries and production distribution increased by 40 percent.<\/h3>\n
