Melanie Payton
Melanie Payton is the Senior Director of the Absence Practice at Brown & Brown (formerly Pacific Resources), with more than 20 years of experience in the absence and disability space. Melanie is responsible for all aspects of absence management programs for our clients including plan and process assessments, compliance reviews, RFP's, vendor selections, benchmarking, and managing our absence consultants and audit practice. Melanie's specialty consulting skills within absence, disability, Family Medical Leave and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) include claims service delivery, time off, disability and leave plan assessment and design and compliance. She has experience in best practice administration designs, comparator benchmarking and vendor management. Prior to joining Pacific Resources, Melanie spent four years as a senior consultant at Aon Hewitt, where she helped clients more effectively manage their absence programs. Before becoming a consultant, Melanie managed outsourced total absence management programs for national clients in a variety of industries and of all sizes. Her experience working with a third-party administrator gives her unique insight into an absence program's administrative practices and operations. Melanie also has many years of experience in the learning and performance space and leverages this expertise as she works with clients through organizational change. Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from The Ohio State University. She also holds the Certified Leave Management Specialist (CLMS) designation from the Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC) and a Life and Health broker license from the state of Ohio.
