DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Aug. 4, 2022 – Brown & Brown is pleased to announce Matt Takamine as executive managing director and captive practice leader. Matt will be responsible for all Brown & Brown’s captive management and consulting services. Takamine is based out of Honolulu, Hawaii.

I’m honored to lead Brown & Brown’s captive practice and continue its traditions of excellence and innovation.”

Matt has over 20 years of experience working with captive insurance companies and has been highly involved in the industry throughout his career. He has served on the board of directors of the Hawaii Captive Insurance Council (HCIC) for nearly 15 years, including multiple terms as the HCIC’s president, board chairman and government relations liaison. Given his leadership roles, Matt has also been part of the Captive Association Leadership Council, representing captive associations across the United States. In addition, Matt served a six-year term on the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) board of directors, based in Burlington, Vermont. The ICCIE is the professional education program for the captive insurance industry. Matt continues to support the ICCIE as a member of its finance committee.

Before joining Brown & Brown, he was a senior manager in KPMG’s Insurance and Financial Services practice.

Matt graduated with distinction from the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting. He is licensed and permitted to practice as a certified public accountant in the state of Hawaii and a member in good standing of the Hawaii Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant.
